The Youth Program at Unity of New York welcomes all children to Sunday classes at Symphony Space. Our doors open at 10:30am and classes are finished by the end of the adult service. Pre-school and Elementary classes are held downstairs in Symphony Space’s rehearsal studio. Uniteens and Y.O.U meet on the main floor in the West Gallery.
Pre-school – ages 3-5
Elementary – ages 6-10
Uniteens – ages 11-13
Y.O.U. – ages 14+
Curriculum:
In our Youth Program we follow Unity’s Living Curriculum, which offers hands-on experiences that draw forth the Truth principles that already reside within each child through storytelling, discussion, creative experiences, affirmations, meditation, prayer and song.
Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, believed that our mission is not to “entertain the children, but to draw them out.”
Each month’s lessons and activities are drawn from Unity approved curriculum and materials, the Children’s Illustrated Bible, and other inspiring stories. The lessons are arranged by monthly themes for each respective age group.
For the Uniteens and Y.O.U., the Living Curriculum serves to empower the youth to use spiritual wisdom to fulfill their souls’ purpose and actively supports the students in their unfolding as well as assisting them in developing skill at living spiritual principles.
Unity kids are also involved in volunteer outreach activities throughout the year. Our Uniteens and Y.O.U. kids will be participating for the first time this year in the regional retreats, where they’ll have the opportunity to meet other Uniteens and Y.O.U. kids from other Unity churches and share and learn more about spiritual principles.
